Improving our and children’s wellbeing through mindfulness and social and emotional intelligence

Mindfulness, part 1

The first of two parts, this session focuses on how teachers can enhance our own mindfulness. We will discuss the concept of mindfulness, identify its seven attitudinal foundations, and list and describe different types of mindfulness training practices. In addition, we will do mindfulness practices together.

Mindfulness, part 2

The second of two parts, this session focuses on how teachers can support children’s mindfulness development. We will discuss the benefits of mindfulness practices for children and curricular activities that revolve around enhancing mindfulness in children.

Leveraging Our Emotional and Social Intelligence at Work, part 3

This session focuses on the value of emotional and social intelligence at work. We’ll look at emotional and social intelligence skills; and how to understand, use, and manage our emotions. In addition, we will discuss how stress can hinder the use of our emotional and social intelligence skills. Finally, we will look at the importance of building relationships as a key byproduct of our emotional and social intelligence development.
