Science Strategies Series

This is a 3-part series – participants can choose to attend any or all of the three following sessions:

• Session 1: Tuesday 12/5/23
• Session 2: Tuesday 12/12/23
• Session 3: Tuesday 12/19/23

• Session 1 – Asking Good Questions:

At the heart of science is discovery, and what better way to unleash science potential than to use the science strategy of asking meaningful and useful questions. Learn how to create a culture of inquiry within your classroom or home through the exploration of the project approach. Participants will learn the art of questioning, hypothesizing and extending learning with children and teachers alike.

• Session 2 – Diving into Discussions:

Building upon “Science Strategies: Asking Good Questions”, this workshop explores how to navigate and manage children’s discussions in small groups with insight and fairness. Improve the scope and creativity of investigations in the classroom or home through positive guidance, strategic questioning, and providing optimal support and encouragement. With these practices in place, who knows where it will take you!

• Session 3 – Promoting Investigations:

Building upon “Science Strategies: Asking Good Questions and Diving into Discussions”, this workshop explores how teachers can authentically motivate children to examine their world through the process of in-depth investigations.
