DENVER PRESCHOOL PROGRAM (DPP)

Quality preschool experiences help to establish a strong foundation for lifelong learning and success.

Denver Preschool Program makes quality preschool possible for all Denver families with four-year-old children through a dedicated sales tax. DPP was first approved by voters in 2006 and renewed and extended in 2014. DPP has provided $80 million in tuition support to help more than 41,000 Denver four-year-olds attend the preschool of their family’s choice.

The Denver Preschool Program supports both family child care homes and center-based preschool programs.

DPP pays tuition support for each four-year-old directly to the child care program each month. DPP quality improvement grants support coaching, college courses, training and conferences, and classroom materials.

DPP is planning to launch a pilot program to serve Denver County three-year-olds.
