The first five years of a child’s life shapes his or her future forever. What a child eats and drinks, where they live, how they play and so much more are critical to his or her health and development.
Yet our society’s model that our bodies, teeth, eyes and minds are all cared for in entirely different systems and settings impacts the way we approach child health, and often keeps health issues and partners disconnected from other kinds of care happening for young children.
At Denver’s Early Childhood Council, we believe that working collaboratively with health organizations and hospitals on issues ranging from developmental screening and referral to obesity prevention and infant sleep is essential to ensuring a healthy start for all young children.
Bridging connections between early learning and child health are especially important to us. If you are a health professional or are simply in search of resources, we encourage you to contact us and let us know how we can support your work in shaping strong futures for Denver’s children.
