Should our Child Care Center Re-open?

First, we hope this message finds you healthy and safe. We are here for you despite changes to our service delivery from the COVID-19 coronavirus pandemic.

We recognize uncertainty continues to be part of daily life. Each child care provider must decide whether to reopen or remain closed, and reevaluate that decision regularly amidst changing orders, guidance, and requirements. For example, it might be best for you, your staff, families, and the community to remain closed this week, and new information might develop at a later point leading you to reopen.

To help you find resources to guide your decision making, we have provided a framework to support your choice to re-open or remain closed. Click here to access the decision-making framework tool and if you need a walk-through, watch the short video below. For a description of the framework tool in Spanish, click here. We acknowledge this information evolves daily, please double check any health and safety guidance as recommendations and guidelines are changing frequently.

This guide includes information to identify if it is financially viable to reopen, if it is safe to reopen, how to establish a reopening process, how to support families and staff, and what to do when circumstances change (including in the unfortunate event of COVID exposure).

We hope this proves useful for you. We hope you will share this with the community. And we thank you for the valuable support you provide to children and families.
