Training: Pyramid Plus Approach

The Pyramid Plus Approach is a set of evidence-based practices that promote young children’s healthy social-emotional development, practices that support inclusion, and strategies to deal with challenging behavior.

The Pyramid Plus Approach training course is a total of 50 hours. Completion of all 18 sessions meets the Child Guidance Strategies requirement for child care licensing.

Cost
The cost of Pyramid Plus training may be covered by Colorado Shines Quality Improvement funds or by private pay.

TIERS OF THE PYRAMID MODEL

The Pyramid Model builds on a public health approach with tiers to provide universal support to all children to promote social-emotional well-being; targeted services to those who need more support; and intensive services to those who need them. Learn more here.

EFFECTIVE WORKFORCE

The foundation of the Pyramid Plus model is a trained and effective child care workforce that can adopt and sustain evidence-based practices.

UNIVERSAL PROMOTION

Support for all children with nurturing and responsive relationships and high-quality child care and home environments. These are the practices needed to support social-emotional development of all children.

SECONDARY PREVENTION

Practices that are targeted to prevent problems. The prevention level includes the targeted support for children at risk of challenging behavior.

TERTIARY INTERVENTION

Intervention includes individualized and intensive interventions to the small number of children with persistent challenges.
