Shelby Mattingly

Shelby joined Denver’s Early Childhood Council in 2023. She is delighted to work with the talented team at the Council to improve pathways and resources for the young children of Denver and their families, educators, and caregivers. Before joining the Council, Shelby spent ten years at Inside the Orchestra, a music education organization focused on providing innovative, multilingual, adaptable programming to meet the diverse needs of children and schools throughout metro Denver, across Colorado, and around the world.

She holds a Master of Public Administration, with a concentration in nonprofit management, from The University of Colorado Denver and a Bachelor of Fine Arts in Theatre Performance, with a Minor in English Literature, from Denison University. She has spent the last two decades in organizational leadership, focusing on financial growth and oversight, program development, partnership building, streamlining systems, and strategic planning. Her deep commitment to the betterment of the community remains the driving force behind all that she does.

In her free time, Shelby loves spending time with her partner and her pack of dogs, connecting with friends, gardening outside, managing an ever-growing jungle of houseplants inside, trying to read through many stacks of books while constantly acquiring new books, plugging away at creative writing, learning new skills, and hiking and exploring the outdoors.
