CEO Transition
Dear DECC Community,
I’m writing to share that I will be stepping down from my role as CEO of Denver’s Early Childhood Council in June 2025, with my last full-time working day on June 13. I will be moving on to a new professional opportunity, and I do so with deep pride in what the Council has accomplished and full confidence in the organization’s continued impact.
This transition comes at a time of strength for the Council. Over the past year and a half, our team has expanded programs, deepened partnerships, and advanced critical work in advocacy, systems-building, and direct support for early childhood professionals, caregivers, families, and young children across Denver. Together, we have reinforced the Council’s essential role as a community-driven leader in the early childhood field.
I remain fully focused on leading the organization during this transition period and am available to connect with members of our community and partners in the weeks ahead. Feel free to reach out to me at shelby@denverearlychildhood.org.
The Board of Directors has approved a hiring timeline and search process, and we’ll be sharing the CEO job posting widely. I’ll also continue to support the Council beyond my departure to ensure a smooth and thoughtful transition — and to champion the work of this incredible organization in every way I can.
It has been a true honor to serve this mission and community. I’m grateful for the opportunity to continue working alongside our dedicated team and partners in the coming months, and excited for all that lies ahead for the Council.
Shelby Mattingly
CEO, Denver’s Early Childhood Council
