Farewell to a community champion
We are deeply saddened to learn of the passing of Gerie Grimes, President and CEO of Hope Center in Denver.
As a community leader for countless family-serving institutions in Denver, Gerie was also a founding member and played an active role in shaping Denver’s Early Childhood Council. She was a key collaborator with the Denver Mayor’s office and Denver Public Schools when the Council was created in 1992, advocating for enhancing and supporting quality in Denver’s early childhood care and education programs.
Gerie served on the Board of Directors for Denver’s Early Childhood Council from its inception, including multiple terms as Board Chair, and as a member of the Oversight Council from 2017 until 2022.
Her vision, guidance, and advocacy made an impact on thousands of children and families across Denver. While her legacy will continue, she will be greatly missed by her colleagues and our community.
