Paying for Child Care: Resources to Help Families and Providers

While we and our partners recognize there is no substitute for the Colorado Child Care Assistance Program (CCCAP), here are some additional funding resources for child care discussed at our June Denver CCAP Collaborative meeting to help offset some of the effects of the ongoing freeze.

Denver Great Kids Head Start prepares preschoolers to enter kindergarten with the social, physical, emotional, cognitive skills and competencies necessary for continued school success. Comprehensive child development programs and support services are available to pregnant moms, infants, toddlers, and the whole family through their Early Head Start and Head Start programs.

Child Care Resource & Referral Agencies (CCR&Rs) provide free referral and education services to families seeking child care. Local CCR&Rs can walk families through the complexities of the childcare system, providing them with the tools needed to make an informed child care decision. They can provide families with free referrals to childcare programs matching their needs and preferences. They can also share information about child care locations, quality ratings, hours of operation, and background, as well as state health and safety requirements and financial assistance. Families can contact resource and referral services for free by dialing 211, or by calling 1-877-338-CARE (2273).

Denver Preschool Program (DPP) qualifying 3-yr-olds and all 4-yr-olds qualify for tuition credits; lower income tiers can qualify for scholarship funding (on a limited basis).
