We heard you! Our 2024 provider survey action plan

By Maureen Reid, Chief Program Officer

Earlier this year you may have filled out a provider survey from Denver’s Early Childhood Council. We want to let you know that we have carefully reviewed your feedback and each team has created plans to address your questions, needs, and concerns. Have a look!

QI Coaching team: The Quality Improvement (QI) coaching team will be making efforts to increase awareness for teachers about our communications by making sure teachers know they can opt in to Council newsletters.

We heard from many of you that mental health needs for children and staff remain high. We are seeking ways to bring more coaching capacity to address social-emotional issues in the classroom.

We know that there are more diverse languages spoken and families served in Denver that go beyond English and Spanish. Our team of coaches will begin using existing data on the specific languages spoken by teachers in classrooms so we can learn how to support programs more effectively with resources in their languages.

QI Navigation team: We heard that knowing who to go to for different things can sometimes be confusing. If you are a director or administrator, be on the lookout for a card or a letter in the mail from our QI team re-introducing (or possibly introducing for the first time) our navigators and coaches to your program so you can be aware of who Denver’s Early Childhood Council is, and of the ways we can support your program, particularly with Colorado Shines ratings!

Career Navigation: We heard loud and clear that this is a needed and valued service. We are working to obtain the funding needed to maintain and grow our PDIS and career navigation support capacity, as well as the quality and volume of career resources.

Business Services: We will continue, expand, or develop trainings and coaching on the following topics:

  • Leadership/management/administration
  • Advocacy & action
  • Mental health support for teachers
  • Hiring/onboarding/HR
  • Recruitment & retention
  • Financial & budgeting support

Professional Development: We had mixed feedback on professional development training preferences, so we are concentrating our efforts on being more flexible, adding more in-person trainings, and looking into options to simultaneously offer them virtually.

We have plans to:

  • Offer in-person technology “how-to” trainings.
  • Add trainings for administrators during lunchtime.
  • Add Pyramid trainings again.
  • Make sure all Denver teachers and directors know how to participate in the DPP achievement awards program (a financial award for completing a specific set of trainings).

Communications overall: So that we can understand what your ongoing needs are and respond promptly, all of our staff will be adding quick and easy feedback links to our outgoing emails. We will also have spots on our website where you can provide feedback, and lastly, we will provide those links in our monthly newsletters and Friday Round Ups.

We truly value the dedication and service of all the programs we work with in Denver and our aim is to elevate your experiences in early childhood education. We appreciate your input and always want to understand how we can be of the best service to you!
